Greetings to Las Vegas Territory Members:
The recent and rapid outbreak of the Coronavirus (COVID-19) has had a direct impact on the sports, travel and entertainment industries throughout the world, as well as the quality of life for all of us. Even as government agencies and medical/health organizations implement new policies, protocols and procedures to a continuously evolving situation, we have yet to actualize the economic impact of our industry, thus creating additional fears of the unknown.
As your Chairperson, I strongly feel the critical need for Las Vegas Territory to comply with the many recent decisions to minimize the impact of this terrible disease during this public health crisis. We all need to immediately change the direction of our lives and make every effort to preserve the health, welfare and stability of our families such that any community spread of COVID-19 is minimized.
We must act now to protect each other.
To join the community efforts to protect each other, Las Vegas Territory cancels the following:
1. March 19th Board of Directors Meeting at the Renaissance
2. March 20th Membership Drive Mixer at the Renaissance
3. March 20th Industry Night at Harrah’s “The Bronx Wanderers”
4. March 24th General Membership Meeting at Renaissance
5. March 28-29 Travel and Adventure Show in Dallas, TX (Event cancelled by Unicomm LLC)
6. April 8-10th Rural Roundup in Virginia City, NV (Rescheduled October 7-9, 2020)
7. April 13-17th Western Canada Sales Mission with Travel NV (Event cancelled by Travel Nevada)
8. April 28th Mesquite Meeting and Fam Trip
9. April 28-30 Bay Area Fam Trip
The Territory and I will continue to communicate with you via email over the coming weeks and certainly hope to reschedule many of these events soon.
We have yet to hear from US Travel Association regarding IPW in Las Vegas but anticipate a response by April 3rd.
On April 19th, I will convene a Conference Call with our Board of Directors to determine where we are at with this crisis and where we will go in the future. Rest assured this is only a temporary shutdown of Las Vegas Territory activities and we certainly look forward to resuming daily operations once COVID-19 is under control and the community is safe.
As you are aware, Governor Sisolak has declared a state of emergency in Nevada. Once again, as your Chairperson and friend, I urge everyone to stay well informed of daily updates regarding COVID-19. Valuable information can be attained on the state’s website www.nvhealthresponse.nv.gov as well as the federal website www.coronavirus.gov.
In closing, please take care of yourselves and your family. Stay healthy, wash your hands, and stay home if sickness occurs. Consider social distancing by remaining clear of crowds, especially if you are a senior citizen, such as myself. Reexamine any travel needs and keep your home stocked with essentials. Once again, stay informed!
As the old saying goes……” This too shall pass!” Take care and I look forward to seeing all of you soon.
